ALWAYS TAKE YOUR TIME WHEN CARRYING OUT THE FOLLOWING. IF IN ANY DOUBT ABOUT THE PROCEDURE DO NOT HESITATE TO CONTACT US.
PLEASE NOTE: PHOTOS SHOWN ARE FOR THE MOZA GS WHEEL, BUT APART FROM THE DISPLAY SCREEN ON THE MOZA FSR WHEEL, THE INSTRUCTIONS ARE THE SAME.
· Philips Head Precision Screw Driver (or a
jeweler's screwdriver. A set can normally
be purchased from a £1/$1 store if you
don't have one). The end needs to be
narrow enough to fit into the grip screw
holes.
· Cloth (to protect and rest your steering
wheel on).
· 2.5 mm A/F Hex Key (Allen® Key).
· 2.0 mm A/F Hex Key (Allen® Key). We also
provide one of these with the your grip
fixings kit
· Blunt Knife (use blunt back edge for
helping to pry open Moza OEM grips during
their removal).
· Small container to keep all your removed
screws, paddle plates etc safe.
· Place the Wheel carefully face down onto
your cloth.
· Remove the eight M3 x 6mm long
Button Head Screws from the top rear
cover (using a 2mm A/F Hex Key).
· Make sure the Hex Key fit is good as these
screws can be very tight on the first time of
loosening and covered in thread lock. A
poor fitting Hex key can result in you
rounding the hex hole on the top of the
screw head.
· Remove the ten M2.5 x 12mm long
Pozi Pan Head Screws from the grips and
rear cover (using the Philips Head screw
driver).
· Flip the Wheel carefully face up again.
VERY IMPORTANT! When you do this, support
both halves of the wheel to avoid the front half
lifting straight off the rear half.
· Undo the four M3 x 12mm long Socket CSK
Head Screws (using the 2mm A/F Hex Key)
circled in red.
· Undo the four M4 x 10mm long Socket CSK
Head Screws (using the 2.5mm A/F Hex
Key) circled in blue.
· VERY IMPORTANT! Rear grips must be
removed BEFORE front grips. Moza have
added a new screw on all FSR wheels and
newer builds of the GS wheels which retains
the front grips (we believe to reduce creaking
on their OEM grips). To get to this screw Rear
grips MUST be removed first. Your wheel may
be an older build and not have the screw but
doing in this order ensures grips can be
removed with minimum problems.
· Carefully remove the rear grips by trying to
form a gap between the front and rear half.
The first time removing the Moza original
grips this may take some time as Moza use a
blue sealant between the grips. Persevere
and they eventually will slightly part. Do not
try to force things.
· Once you create a small gap, ideally use a
trim removal tool (aka a spudger) as these
tend to be more gentle and don't damage
plastic trim parts. If you do not have one of
these, then blunt side of a knife. Either of
these tools will help you gradually part the
grips further apart. Move along the seam.
· Now hold the rear cover of the wheel slightly
away from the rear grip (be careful that the
rear cover is not opened too far as to put
strain on the internal wiring. There is some
play but just be mindful of this)
· Now carefully lift off each rear grip half and
repeat for the other rear grip.
· Now remove front grips by unscrewing the
anti-creak screw shown (Note: this screw will
not be found on early GS Wheel builds)
· Carefully remove the top grips by trying to
form a gap between the front and rear half.
The first time removing the Moza original
grips this will take some time as they use a
blue sealant between the grips. Persevere
and they eventually will slightly part. Do not
try to force things.
· Replace ALL the eight front screws:
· Four M3 x 12mm long Socket CSK
Head Screws (using the 2mm A/F Hex Key).
· Four M4 x 10mm long Socket CSK
Head Screws (using the 2.5mm A/F Hex
Key).
· Ensure all internal wires are not trapped
in areas where the rear cover and wheel plate
come together.
· Turn the wheel back on its front.
· Take one of the new pineapple grip rear
halves and pivot it into the shroud as
shown. Be careful not to stress the legs on
the 3D print but it does go into position
easily enough.
· Repeat for the other grip half.
· IMPORTANT! Fit each pair of metal pins
provided into the rear grip mounting holes
AFTER the rear grips have been assembled
to your wheel and just BEFORE attaching
the front grip halves. To install two of the
metal pins to each rear grip, just push into
their mounting holes as far as you can, but
don't force them. 4mm or so of the metal
pins will protrude from its mount, this is
fine. The metal pins act as a guide for
assembling the top half of the grips and
adds strength to the grips once screwed
together.
· Attach the front half grip on each side.
· Carefully Flip the wheel onto its front again.
Fit the three screws we supply into each
grip starting with the middle one first (as
shown).
· IMPORTANT! We supply you with a set of
six M2.5 x 12mm long Socket Cap Head
Screws (and 2mm A/F Hex Key). Please
make sure these are used instead of the
original screws as they have a different
type of thread.
· IMPORTANT! When screwing the new grips
together make sure the rear grips are
seated into position properly. If they are
not and you try to screw the top half on it
can damage or pull out thread inserts and
NEVER OVER TIGHTEN THE SCREWS.
Tighten them until the uncovered parts of
the grips come together.
· Re-attach the four paddles with the eight
M3 x 6mm long Button Head Screws from
the top rear cover (using a 2mm A/F Hex
Key).
· Again, make sure the Hex Key fit is good as
these screws can be very tight on the first
time of loosening and covered in thread
lock. A poor fitting Hex key can result in
you rounding the hex hole on the top of
the screw head.
· Place the wheel on its front and re-screw
two of the M2.5 x 12mm long Pozi Pan
Head Screws into the top rear cover (using
the Philips Head screw driver).
· Leave the outer two screw holes free from
screws (see Part 7)
· Press Fit the two black plastic hole caps
supplied (The original screws are not
required so store them with original grip
screws in a safe place along with your
original Moza grips)
Congratulations! Your installation is now
complete.
