wheels)

Replacement pin plug part for Fanatec steering wheels.

All in one version: This part is a replacement for a broken pin on a Fanatec wheel. It happens all too often that the original pins supplied by Fanatec snap. The material they use seems to be prone to this unfortunately.

But never fear, we have a custom designed and made part to replace the Fanatec original.

We use automotive standard pins from Mill-Max in the USA which of a better quality and are far more robust.

How do I know if this will fit my wheel?

Fits all Fanatec wheels: This product comes ready for any Fanatec steering wheel. Each box contains the pin plug and three cables. Simply pick the cable that matches your original and press it into the new pin plug on one side and your steering wheel PCB on the other.

How do I fit this part?

The pin plug is an integral part of the steering wheel so you will need to open up your steering wheel to fit it. The bolts from the original pin plug will fit onto the new one. Do not reuse the washer or cover from the original pin plug, this does not need it.

Whats included in the offered a replacement pin plug for Fanatec wheels for a long time and these prove very popular, mainly because getting replacements from Fanatec is so difficult.

The current version takes a lot of making. I have to thread and manually crimp each wire taking care to get the wires the right way round every time.

This is why I have decided to rethink the product and see if I can make it both easier to manufacture and make the parts more replaceable.

So, this is what I have come up with.

What makes up the new plug?

The new product is made up of two PCB's, a plastic case and a cable. One PCB has the pins soldered to it and joins via a tiny plug to the second PCB which has a 12 pin plug on it. This is held in place with 5 screws.

Should a pin break you can either buy a replacement pin and solder it yourself, or purchase a replacement pin PCB from the shop. Changing the PCB is as easy as undoing the 5 screws, pushing out the old PCB and replacing it with the new one.

Another change in the design sees removing the need for a washer to attach the plug to a wheel. This is basically what the new plastic washer from Fanatec does, but I'm just making the case as one piece including the washer. One less part making things a little simpler. It accepts the bolts from the old wheel part or I can have the newer style bolts available in the shop

Why is one pin shorter than the others?

This is not a mistake, it's something that Fanatec do too. The reason for it is so that before this pin connects to the wheelbase, the other pins are already connected. This pin is a ground and it tells the wheelbase that a new wheel is now attached and basically turns the wheel on.

Pineapple
